Matariki Constellation/Macarena

Dia Dhuit
(Hello in Irish)

This week we have been doing more work around Matariki. My two favourite things were the Matariki Macarena and drawing the Matariki Constellation.

The Matariki Macarena is similar to the normal macarena but of course it not . But it is not exactly the same. It has the names seven Matariki stars (some people believe there are 9) Here is a video of how to dance to it.

My other favourite thing we did was drawing the Matariki Constellation (I mean star cluster) What we had to do was name and add the meanings for the stars. Below is what I created. Click on the photo to see more information.

Matariki Celebration

Merhaba Bloggers,
(Hello in Turkish)

Yesterday we took part in Matariki Celebrations. Matariki are the seven stars that represent the Māori new year. The seven stars are called Matariki, Tupu-ā-nuku, Tupu-ā-rangi, Waipunarangi, Waitī, Waitā, and Ururangi.

Anyway, for the Matariki Celebration we had three rotations. My class started with kite making. We made Māori kites called mana tukutuku. Then we made some Māori bread. It was sooo yum! Last but not least we did Stop Motion. All of this was really fun. My favourite thing was the Māori bread.

Here are some pictures of the day.

Cross Country 😱

Hej Bloggers
(Hello in Swedish)

Yesterday we did Cross Country! It was SOOO Fun! I was with the Year 5's. We began on the playground, then we went to tennis. We also did handball. After that we did a blindfold activity. Then we warmed up and cheered the Year 4's on! After that we had to run.

Dun Dun Dunnnn!

We had a really long course. I had to run it not once, but TWICE!! I came... 5th!!! Which means I am going to Cross Country Zones!! My least favorite thing was how hard and long the run was. I bet Ibrahim who is normally faster than me.

Here are some pics.
