Emergency Kit

Emergency Kit

Hello bloggers around the world๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‘ˆ, today I will be blogging about an emergency kit. For those of you who don't know an emergency kit is a bag with lots of stuff in it. Anyway before we get to the tsunami news I will talk about our meet. We had to dress up fancy or freaky. I chose fancy. Lets continue. We have been learning about emergecy kits at school because of an earthquake and tsunami. The alerts were beacause several earthquakes near East Cape and the Kermadec Islands. An emergency kit is very useful for a tsunami evacuation.  It has stuff in it that you will need when you are further inland of on higher ground. To begin there was an earthquake about 95km from Te Araroa (on the east coast). Then there were two bigger earthqakes near the Kermadec Islands later in the day. In the afternoon my brothers phone started to buzz. It was an emergncy mobile alert. When I heard it I though we would have to evacuate, but our house is about 80m above se level. The alert was just to say stay out of the water.   My teacher (Ms Sands) had to evacuate because she was in Waipu. Well she didn't have to evacuate because she lives on a hill however lots of people who lived in Waipu came up to her house.  Below is a list with all the things you need in an emergency kit.

  • First Aid Kit
  • Medication (if needed)
  • Radio
  • Toilet Paper
  • Sunscreen
  • Blankets
  • Torch (with working batteries)
  • Back Pack
  • Umbrella
  • Tarpaluin (for shade)
  • Entertaniment (like pack of cards)
  • Rain Coat
  • Water
  • Non - Perishable Food
  • Wipes
  • Phone (fully charged)
  • Battery Bank (also fully charged)
