Tongan Language Week

Malo e lelei Bloggers

This week is Tongan Language Week. This week at school we have been learning about Tongan Language Week. Usually there would be a festival to celebrate Tongan Language Week called Polyfest but it was cancelled because of COVID-19.

The Tongan islands are located in the Pacific Ocean. In Te Waka Ako there are some Tongan children. Today they wore special clothes and said when and where they would wear them. For lunch they had some tongan food.

This morning we did a Kahoot to end Tongan Language week. It with quite fun.  3 out of the 4 Tongan children came 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Anyway below are some phrases I have learned this week.

We also wrote a personal response to Warren Pohatu's art. Warren Pohatu is a artist who creates beautiful art. Anyway below are some phrases I have learned this week.

  1. Very interesting! Did you know when I was at primary school I didn't have anyone Pasifika in my class at all. You are so lucky to be at a school with so many interesting cultures.
