Y6 Spark Arena Trip

 Spark Arena Trip

Hello bloggers around the world🌏👈, today most of the year sixes went on a trip to Spark Arena. It was super fun. We saw three cool exhibitions; Van Gogh, Happy Place & Sounds Fun. The trip was organised by the one and only... Suzy Cato from Suzy's World. We were extremely lucky to be chosen. Once we arrived we were told were we were going first...

Happy Place!!! When we first arrived at Happy Place it looked pretty fun. Then we had to take our shoes off. Once we continued through we saw... A GIANT BALL PIT!!!! So we got into a line. Then we waited our turn. Once we got up I was soooo excited. Three, two, one... JUMP! As soon as I jumped it I felt so happy. However It was really hard to get out. Me and my friend Anthony had a really hard time getting out. When we thought we were out we sunk right down to the bottom. We got out though... eventually😝. After that we saw a room with lots of chains. We were going in and out of it. I accidentally hit the wall with the chains
😝. Then there was a room with lots or rubber duckies. In it was a bathtub full of plastic balls. We each took turns getting photos. It was fun. After that we saw a giant cookie with holes in it. They were for putting your face in. Then we went to an upside down room. Then we walked through a sunflower room to see... A GIANT DOME FULL OF CONFETTI!!!! As soon as we stood it we threw confetti everywhere. I even got some in my mouth😣. I even threw it at the teachers. It was so fun. Then we were finished looking at Happy Place.

Next we looked at Sounds Fun. Sounds Fun is a hands on exhibition with musical instruments. First I looked at the part were we could make our own music. However the speakers were not working so we had to go do something else while we waited.  While I waited I tried to play the trumpet. It was pretty hard. I could only hold it for 2 seconds😕. Then we went back to were we were before because the speakers were working. While we were playing one of the teachers (Miss Daly) came up to us. We kept nagging her to sing. She continued to refuse. After a few minutes she walked away. As she walked away we kept yelling "Miss Daly! Miss Daly!" She kept saying no. It was really fun doing that. Then my other friend Paityn started singing. Every time she kept laughing. It was sooooooooooo funny. Then I was gonna have a go at some musical device thing, but then we left😟. To go see...

The Van Gogh Exhibition! Here's the thing, I had already seen the Van Gogh Exhibition, just like my friends Erana & Chrystelle. So we knew what we were expecting. Anyway I will admit that I preferred it without my little (loud) brother Thomas, but whatever! For the first room we only had a little look, so I can't really explain it. The thing that I do remember was a coloured wall. One had a quote on it (that I forgot😝) and the other had a photo of some sunflowers. We had a group photo there. Then we moved onto the next part. It had screens on the floor that had some photos/videos projecting on it. It was really cool. On the walls it had different quotes and art pieces that Van Gogh said/designed. Then we saw the sunflower room which had lots of mirrors and (fake) sunflowers🌻. Then we walked outside to find some snacks.

Overall the trip was super fun. I was very grateful especially since we didn't have to pay anything. Have you been to Spark Arena before?

  1. What a fabulous way to end your recount of the day Daniel, this connects to what I was doing back at school with the Y5s, thinking about what we were grateful for in our lives that day! I'm glad you had the chance to explore Van Gogh again, without any 'distractions'. Did you have a particular favourite piece of art, and if so, what made it your favourite?
I've played lots of instruments over the years, but I've never tried to blow a trumpet - what made it difficult? Do you have an instrument in mind, that you would like to play at some stage?
Thanks for the detailed recount of the day's events - I'm pleased you had such a lovely time!
