-Least Favourite Post
-Three things we learnt from doing this
-What changes/improvements we would make next time.

My favourite post was... 'Dear Jacinda'.

My least favourite post was... Apple vs. Microsoft.

I learnt
-That I should always follow the instructions.
-That the Summer Learning Journey prevented me from having the Summer Slump.
-That the Summer Learning Journey is a bunch of fun!

Next time I will
-Try and do more posts.
-Try to always follow the instructions.
-Try and add pictures to all my posts

I hope you enjoyed watching me do the Summer Learning Journey. Until Next year!

Hi Bloggers,
It's the 2nd to last day of the Summer Learning Journey! Today I am looking at Street Art in Christchurch. I have only been to Christchurch once and it was fun! Here are the pictures I chose.

Differences: They have different colours. The bird is used on the Metrocard. The flowers are in water.
Similarities: They are both in nature. They both have green. They both have leaves

SLJ Wk4 D3 A3 - Feast or Famine

Hi Bloggers,
I am still counting down for the end of the Summer Learning Journey! Today I am doing activity 3 which is about 20 or 40 hour Famine and if we ever wanted to do it and why.

I personally would not because I don't like to much change even for 20 or 40 hours. I might do a 20 hour one but not a 40 hour challenge. I you would like to participate in it here is a link

SLJ Wk4 D2 A3 - Girl Power

Hi Bloggers,
The Summer Learning Journey is nearly over! I am doing activity 3 (so I can get as many points as possible) which is about role models. We had to find someone who is a role model and why.

I picked my Dad. Here is why.
I think my Dad is a role model because, he is a busy working parent, but he is also a role model because, he shows other people (including me and my 2 brothers) what to do and what to not do.

SLJ Wk4 D1 A3 - The Diary of Anne Frank (but we had to write our own diary)

26th October 2017

Dear Diary,
One sunny day I hopped in the taxi from Wellington Airport to Government house. To see Jacinda Ardern (the prime minister) and lots of other people get sworn in. One of the other people was my Dad who got sworn in to become and under secretary for Ethnic communities.(He is now the Chief Government Whip). Then we got the taxi back and flew home.

SLJ Wk3 D5 A3 - Own Choice

Hi Bloggers,
It is the end of Week 3! So I decided to do activity 3. We had to pick a scientist and do research about them. I choose Peter Buck. Here is my research.

His full name is Sir Peter Henry Buck ( Te Rangi Hīroa/Te Rangihīroa).

He has been a doctor, military leader, health administrator, politician, anthropologist and a museum director.

After World War ll there was a very high rate of Māori people dying from influenza, so Peter Buck helped them.

I will be doing the SLJ on Tuesday and Thursday next week. See you then!

SLJ Wk3 D3 A1 - Nanogirl

Hi Blogger,
It is Wednesday of Week 3! Today I choose activity 1, which was about tiny houses. We had to watch 3 videos on Build Tiny New Zealand, and then explain if we ever wanted to live in a tiny house and why or why not.

I personally don't want to live in a tiny house because I like to lots of space to do what I want. I also prefer having more space because then you don't have a hard time trying to fit things in that you want.

SLJ Wk3 D1 A3 - Apple Vs Microsoft

Hi Bloggers,
It is now Week 3! I choose to do activity 3. We had to find 2 companies and compare them. Then we had to do a rivalry between the 2 company's. In the example they used Apple and Microsoft, but we needed to find 2 examples of rivalries. I chose,
-Stuff & NZ Herald
-Countdown & Pak'nSave

Here is what I found out about these companies.

Stuff was founded in February 2011 by Gregory Colin Hywood. It is owned by Nine Entertainment Co. It has been a subsidiary of Nine Entertainment Co since December 2018.

Vs

NZ Herald was founded by William Chisholm Wilson and had its first newspaper published on the 13th of November 1863. It is owned by NZME (New Zealand Media & Entertainment) which is owned by itself.

Countdown was founded in 1981 by Woolworths (The Australian version of Countdown). It is owned by Woolworths NZ. It was created in May 1981.

Vs

Pak'nSave was founded in 1985 and is owned by Foodstuffs. Their headquarters are in Wellington.
Foodstuffs also owns New World, Pams and Four Square.

SLJ Wk2 D3 A1 - The Right to vote

Hi Bloggers,
This is Week 2 for the Summer Learning Journey. Today was about Women's rights. I chose activity 1 which was about Kate Sheppard. The activity was, if they replaced Kate Shepard on the $10 note who should the replace her with? I personally think she should stay on the $10 note but we had to pick someone else. I picked Jacinda Ardern.

I think Jacinda Ardern should be chosen because she is amazing. Also she is the Prime Minister! Another reason she should be on it is that she has helped people when something bad has happened. (etc. White Island Eruption)

Who do you think we should put on the $10 note next?

SLJ Wk2 D1 A3 - 'Dear Jacinda'

Hi Bloggers,
This is the second week of the Summer Learning Journey. I picked to do a letter to Jacinda Ardern, which was activity 3. I toke me a bit of time to come up with a letter but here it is.

https://www.parliament.nz/en/mps-and-electorates/members-of-parliament/ardern-jacinda/
Dear Jacinda,
Please encourage people to help stop climate change. (etc. buying electric cars)

Please make a law about certain dates for fireworks. (because sometimes they keep me up all night)

Please let Greta Thunberg come to New Zealand to take about climate change. (and maybe do some more protest about climate change)

Please still help people when something bad happens.

Lastly please stay the best prime minister in the world.

From Daniel

(By the way I will not be doing any activities on Tuesday or Thursday because those are my screen-free days)
