 STEM Week Student Led Toolkits

Hello bloggers around the world🌏👈, last week on Friday we hosted our own student led toolkits. We did it as part of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) week. For those of you who don't know what student led toolkits is here is a quick explanation. Basically other people show you different online tools you can use. Then you get 15 minutes to try it out. For our student led toolkts we had three sessions. We filled in a google form to pick our toolkits. Below is a explanation of the three toolkits that I attended.

For my first session I had to present. We were showing them how to look at different planets in google maps and journey planner. Even though I had presented at the Ako Hiko Toolkits I still felt really nervous. However in the end me and Mahdi managed to do it. It was a little bit hard to get all the kids to listen but was pretty fun. Sadly I couldn't find any photos. However below is the slideshow is you guys want to learn yourself.

For my second session I had to present (again). This time is was a lot more fun. One of the people even asked if the moon was made of cheese! The results were a little bit confusing. One source said it was and the other said it was made of rock and metal. Anyway it was overall much easier to get them to listen because we knew what we were doing.

For the third and final session I was supposed to do drones however they were not charging so I had to do Sphero's instead (which I didn't mind). Once Cole & Caleb showed us how to use them we had to get into groups of 3 or 4. In my group was Me, Aley, Bostyn and Elisa. We tried to lauch the sphero up a ramp sevral times and failed 😂. Then we drove it all along the court. We even raced them (and won). When we had to take them back we drove our at top speed the whole way. The sphero's were soooooo much fun. Below are some photos.

Overall I found toolkits super fun. My favourite session was the sphero because it was really fun trying to get it up the ramp. I also liked presenting. Have you ever had Student Led Toolkits at your school?
